Oh crumbs… is this cookie issue taking the biscuit?
You may have seen the issue of ‘cookies’ on websites has made its way into the news recently. It’s one of those things that either you know about already and understand, or if you don’t, it sounds like a completely alien language! It doesn’t help that they’re called ‘cookies’ for a start - but hopefully keeps the subject (which does have a danger of falling into the nerdy and dull category) a little more light-hearted.

Without flouring it up, the new rules mean all websites have to be upfront about using cookies (most sites have them).
Sadly, 9 times out of 10 most of us fear what we don’t understand and before we know it we could see droves of people deciding not to allow cookies
on sites where they have hitherto been enhancing their user experience. This is where it’s down to individual sites to ensure they’re crystal clear about what their cookies are doing and to reassure their users that it’s in their interest to allow them to carry on doing their thing.
From 27th June 2012 all websites should comply with this new cookie legislation. Failure to do so could result in some pretty hefty fines. If you’d like us to do a ‘cookie audit’ on your website – just give Steve at bluesky a call on 01449 765720.
